The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has suspended its strike.
The decision to call off the four months strike was reached after a meeting of the institution’s ASUU members on Tuesday.
Ade Adejumo, ASUU zonal coordinator, told The Nation that academic activities will resume on Monday, October 23.
He said: "The zone will have to be briefed, national will have to be briefed, but the Congress have suspended the strike in principle as from today but full lectures will resume on Monday.
"Skeletal things will continue, preparatory to the commencement of full academic activities on Monday."
LAUTECH, owned by Osun and Oyo states, has been closed down multiple times in the past few years over the non-payment of staff’s salaries and allowances.
Lecturers of the institution in June 2017 embarked on their second strike within a year, leading to a situation where LAUTECH alumni embarked on a crowdfunding initiative to raise funds with the hope of solving the financial crisis.
The management of LAUTECH had last month said full academic activities will commence after the Independence Day anniversary on October 1.
In response, ASUU had said it "will not resume until our demands are met.france24.comyohaig.ng</a> Until our demands are addressed, the strike continues".
