Here are some handy small tools that you can use to capture images and text if you want to be in a position to take a screenshot on a computer. The first one is called Jing, and it's free! TechSmith | Jing, instant screenshots and screencasts.

Add visuals to your on-line conversations. Jing captures something on you see on your computer screen, as an image or short video, and lets you share it instantly. You can get a free account now. You can also upgrade, but for what I use it for I do not need the upgrade.

After you learn how to take a screenshot on a computer you will find out that this is very easy to use this screen shot software. After you set up Jing it will leave a light image of the sun at the top and middle of your desktop. This makes it extremely handy. If you are needing information on your screen, or watching a webinar, all you have to do is hoover over the sun and click and drag to what ever image you want to save. Just drag the cross hairs from the beginning point and drag (as the crow flies) to the opposite finish of whatever it is that you're wanting to capture. You can also use arrows to show a particular segment and even highlight text or images. An additional handy tool to use is using a box to also frame a particular segment.

As soon as you have your web page captured you can save and or share it. There is also a library of the images and videos that you have produced to be used at a latter date if you wish.

As soon as I learned how to take a screenshot on a pc with Jing I also discovered a program known as Snagit. It is also a fantastic screen shot software to use Snagit has a 30 day free trial. Just go to techsmith.com and look for Snagit.

This one is good if you require to manipulate copy, say like altering an address, logo or even create new images. Snagit will also take a screenshot on a pc but, only a static image.

I use each.

I use Jing if I need a quick shot off my screen. All I have to do is hit the sun (image), and place the cross hairs where I want it to start and drag to where I want it to finish.

I will use Snagit if I'm going to produce an image or if I need to manipulate it in any way. Since learning how to take a screenshot on a computer with both these tools it has been a breeze teaching and training brief segments in my curriculum.
